No surprise, ‘Trauma’ was officially canceled this week. Word is that the 13 episodes initially ordered will run and no more will be ordered and aired. ‘Chuck’ has had an additional 6 episodes ordered which is probably a result of ‘Trauma’ being given the heave-ho. ‘Chuck’ will most likely be returning earlier than originally planned.
Well, I have been keeping a little record of all the shows that have been in talks with networks or have had a pilot ordered just to keep tabs on what may be coming to TV. After all, when the shows that are not pulling in the ratings get the ax, there will need to be a new set of shows to fill in the empty slots. So, here is a list of all that may be coming;
- A Comedic Medical Show from producer JJ Adams on FOX
- “Keep Hope Alive” Single Camera project 25-year-old man raising an infant with the help of his quirky family after the mother of the baby, with whom he had a one-night stand, ends up on death row
- “Fallen” on Fox from “Eagle Eye” Co-writer John Glenn a real-world drama that revolves around a group of vigilante “fallen” angels who take down the criminal and the corrupt in New York while falling in love, battling demons and seeking their own personal revenge.
- A single camera project from Imagine TV and 20th TV that will be written by “500 Days of Summer” writerScott Neustadter and Michael Webb.
- “Friends” is a comic dissection of mating habits of today’s young adults (not the Friends we have all loved.. think they need to change the name, don’t you?) “It’s about a group of twentysomethings at a point in their lives that everyone can relate to, when they ask questions like:’Is this your girlfriend or someone you just hang out with? Is this a job, or is this a career?” Weber said. “We will be tracking their lives and the decisions they make.”
- CW – new reality show about a real life Gossip Girl
- ABC “Hopscotch” crime procedural produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
- Animated “Sky Jockeys” on FOX written by Anil Gupta (The Office) and Richard Pinto (Mutual Friends), about the comedic adventures of airline employees.
- Untitled Drama at CBS about a lawyer who,after a near fatal car accident, is offered a second chance at life by the ghost of his ex-wife. Comes from the creator of “Dirty, Sexy, Money” Craig Wright.
- An hour long competition elimination reality show form Sony Pictures TV and producer Mark Burnett. Based on the classic TV Show “Fantasy Island” from Aaron Spelling. Twelve contestants will vie to become the real life Mr. or Ms Roarke and win a dream job at the hotel.
- CBS – Hawaii 5-0 pilot was ordered
- FOX – Intruders – single camera comedy project – centers on a wealthy country club father in Arizona who falls in love with a white-trash single mom and blindsides his kids by moving her and her family into their estate, where the debaucherous world of Lake Havasu collides with the manicured lawns of Scottsdale.
These are the shows that I have heard of , so far. There are probably more that I missed, and some of these may never make it on the air. I thought it was interesting and so I thought I’d share. Seems that remaking old shows is the thing, with Hawaii 5-0 and a Fantasy Island version show possibly coming to TV. Interesting. Although, so far, the remakes are not doing so well (think Melrose Place and 90210).
