Well, I was happily surprised when this morning, upon turning on my TV and looking at my play list, I saw ‘Trauma’ listed. I thought I would never see them again.. well at least not to “burn off” season. Does this mean that it wasn’t yet officially cancelled? Because, it’s certainly not the time of year where they burn things off, if you know what I mean.
So, what has been going on with our favorite TV shows since the return to new episodes. Well, it seems that ‘24′ may be reaching it’s end. It has slipped by 4.2M viewers and 42% in adults 18-49. Ouch! Looks like ‘24′ may be burning out and Jack Bauer, this time for good, may end up having to hang it up and retire. I do still watch it and love it, but I do get how it could be fading. It’s the same thing over and over again really. I mean , how much more can they actually do with the show. We’ll have to see how this seasons ratings play out and whether we will have another 24 hours of Keifer.
‘Castle’ fans will be happy to know that it pulled in a respectable 9.09M vierws for as second place finish. It is one of the shows on the “bubble” of cancellation. ‘Chuck’ is at around 6.31M viewers leaving it still in the bubble zone. ‘Trauma’ did 4.78M and 4th place finish. Actually, that is not bad for a show that had no promotion for it’s return to the line-up and for one that most of us, myself included, thought was canceled. But, still not enough to warrant a pick up for a second season. Oh well.
‘The Marriage Ref’ did approx 7.71M viewers and second place. I’m kind of kickin myself because I wanted to DVR that show, as i had sen the promos and it looked like fun. But, duh, I forgot to check my DVR and the schedule (actually I’ve been lazy laterly.. a lot going on). I’ll be sure to catch it this week.
On Wednesday, ‘Mercy’ is not really fairing very well with only 6.04M viewers. It too is a bubble show, but it’s not looking good for renewal. ‘Cougar Town’ dipped in the ratings and only retained 67% of the audience out of ‘The Middle”. Why, I don’t know. It has been a ratings winner and is such a good show. But then again so was Samantha Who (which was nominated for an Emmy even) and that was cancelled.
Man, the powers that be at networks are fidgety, panicky people aren’t they. So quick to hit the ‘cancel’ trigger these days.
I’m looking forward to the return of ‘V’, the second installment of ‘Parenthood’ and the second new episode of ‘Southland’ and I’m curios as to how they will all do in the ratings. Stay tuned.
